Next up in NSMB Wii: the first Tower stage and Level 1-4. In the fortress stage, the first Koopaling encounter occurs when Mario goes one-on-one with Larry Koopa. After a very easy fight, Larry retreats to the castle; there, Mario will have to fight him again. The next level is 1-4, an underwater level. I’ve never been a fan of the underwater levels, but they’re a staple in most Mario platformers. Continued in the next video.

3-Tower is split into two different gimmicks, one unique to this stage and the other something normal with a unique new twist to it. The bottom half of the tower has some very large rotating platforms. They’re shaped like humongous hollow squares with pieces of them missing, and they take up a lot of the width of the tower. Mario needs to take advantage of them spinning clockwise and counterclockwise in order to get above them and to the next portion. You’ll see that I went through a hidden door here. A heads up to everyone who has the game and is still going through it: Towers and Castles have signs telling you of false walls. There’s always an indentation of that size in the wall, which doesn’t necessarily indicate there’s a false wall there–in this case, teal instead of gray. Sometimes, you’ll see that the wall is colored differently over there, which is ALWAYS a sign of a false wall. With this one, it’s both. The second half of the tower features tower-wide platforms that slowly move upward. The first is not so bad, with a Dry Bones walking on it and passing by some Amps. (Savor this moment if you’re an Amp fan because this one platform ride is the only spot you’ll see them in this game.) The second is much more dangerous, and if you ask me, the hardest part of this stage by a longshot. This time, you’re given a bunch of Dry Bones, and later on, a lot of spiked balls rolling back and forth and bumping into each other…which defeat the Dry Bones but don’t exactly …
